Label Existing Data on File Systems

Business data is rarely well organized into files and folders. Furthermore, data or a given project, customer, business unit is often distributed across multiple file servers and various operating system environments. This has led to multi-terabyte volumes of disorganization. Actual customer volume names:
  • "Landfill"
  • "Bit Bucket"
  • "Bob's Mess"
  • "The Swamp"

With ClarityNow! tags / labels can be applied to existing data to provide alternate views beyond files and folders. Labels provide a mechanism to view and navigate data in terms relevant to the business, such as customers, projects, and teams.

  • Categorize data with arbitrary tags
  • Label related projects, business managers
  • Use labels to prepare for data migration
  • Use labels to drive "project level" archive of data
  • Labels existing data in preparation for data migration

Labels can be applied manually via "drag and drop," or automated tag injection via the ClarityNow! command line API.
