History

The visual effects industry has been addressing the problem sets associated with the management of large-scale unstructured data (video, audio, binaries, and non-text files) for over twenty years. Virtually every industry is now faced with these challenges as more data is transitioned from an analog to a digital format. The DataFrameworks business model was launched based on observations that many of the large entertainment industry companies were deploying internal software development resources to develop solutions to the problems inherent with managing vast amounts of unstructured data. The fact that these large corporations all had teams focused on developing similar tools to address the management of their unstructured data, indicated a potential market for a commercially available offering.
DataFrameworks commenced development of the core solution when a team of software engineers from the visual effects industry was hired, to develop solutions to address the problem of managing the enormous amounts of data characteristic of film industry but quickly becoming a problem across industry verticals. DataFrameworks set out to create a flexible platform that provided adequate structure for end-users working on large-scale projects while maintaining an agnostic view toward underlying storage infrastructure.
